The CRG: An experienced team for comprehensive family support.
The DBT Prolonged Exposure Protocol is designed to treat posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in suicidal, self-harming, and multidiagnosed adolescents and adults. It is based on Prolonged Exposure Therapy, a highly effective treatment for PTSD that uses in vivo and imagined exposure followed by treatment as a core strategy.
The integrated treatment of DBT and the Prolonged Exposure Protocol uses a step-by-step approach to comprehensively address the full range of issues experienced by high-risk, severe, and complex patients with PTSD.
Training schedule
Participants will learn the DBT Prolonged Exposure Protocol for the treatment of PTSD, one of the most recent developments in DBT research and practice. Participants will learn how to use DBT strategies to prepare high-risk, multi-problem patients for the DBT EP protocol, as well as how to determine patients' readiness to begin formal DBT treatment.
The structure and procedures of the DBT EP protocol will be taught session by session, with ample opportunity to view video examples and practice administering each of the major treatment components. Particular attention will be paid to discussing strategies for overcoming common problems that arise during PTSD treatment with high-risk, multi-problem patients, as well as how to adapt treatment to address the complex characteristics of this patient population.
